Animal Welfare Policy

At Kensingtons Bedding, we are committed to the highest standards of animal welfare in all aspects of our operations and supply chain. Our dedication to ethical, sustainable, and responsible business practices is fundamental to our values and the expectations of our customers. This policy outlines our approach to ensuring the welfare of animals involved directly or indirectly with our products and operations, aligning with the United Kingdom's legal and ethical standards.

Policy Statement

Kensingtons Bedding acknowledges the importance of animals' intrinsic value and their well-being. We are committed to:

  • Ensuring that all animal-derived materials are sourced from suppliers that adhere strictly to humane treatment standards, as per UK and international animal welfare laws and guidelines.
  • Minimising the environmental impact of our operations to protect natural habitats and the animals that reside within them.
  • Continuously seeking alternatives to animal-derived materials where possible, prioritising innovation in sustainable and cruelty-free products.
  • Engaging only with suppliers who demonstrate transparent and responsible practices concerning animal welfare.
  • Providing training and resources to our employees to ensure they understand and implement our animal welfare standards throughout our operations.

Implementation & Compliance

  • Sourcing: We will rigorously assess and select our suppliers based on their animal welfare practices. Suppliers must provide evidence of compliance with all relevant local and international animal welfare laws, including but not limited to the Animal Welfare Act 2006, the Welfare of Farmed Animals (England) Regulations 2007, and the EU's legislation on animal welfare.
  • Auditing & Reporting: Regular audits will be conducted to ensure ongoing compliance with our animal welfare policy. These audits may be carried out by internal staff or third-party experts in animal welfare. Non-compliance by suppliers will result in immediate review and potential termination of contracts.
  • Training & Awareness: All employees involved in procurement, product development, and supply chain management will receive training on animal welfare principles, our policy, and how to apply these in their roles. Awareness campaigns will also be conducted internally to ensure company-wide understanding and support for our animal welfare commitments.
  • Innovation & Improvement: We are committed to researching and investing in alternative materials and methods that reduce our reliance on animal-derived products. We aim to lead in the bedding industry by adopting innovations that are both sustainable and cruelty-free.
  • Transparency & Stakeholder Engagement: Kensingtons Bedding will maintain transparency about our animal welfare practices through regular updates in our sustainability reports. We will engage with customers, NGOs, and other stakeholders to continuously improve our policies and practices.

Review and Update

This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to reflect new scientific knowledge, regulatory requirements, and best practices in animal welfare. Feedback from our stakeholders is welcomed and will be considered during the review process.
